Japanese economy picks up in 1st three months of 2017

For the first time since 2006, the Japanese economy picked up in the first three months of 2017, MarketWatch reported. The country’s gross domestic product for the first quarter was up by 2.2%, which was helped by strong demand for tech items and an improvement in household spending. Meanwhile, Japan expanded faster than the 1.8% growth forecasted by economists who also expect gains to continue in the current quarter.
