BSG Stahl Riesa Launches Crowdfunding for New Floodlights

BSG Stahl Riesa has launched a crowdfunding campaign to finance the replacement of the outdated floodlight system at the Feralpi Arena.

The current system has been in operation for more than 18 years and, according to the club, has reached the end of its technical lifespan. It no longer fulfills the light intensity requirements for official match operations set by the Saxon Football Association.

To address this, the BSG Stahl Riesa club plans to install a modern LED floodlight system. Beyond meeting regulatory standards, the new technology is expected to significantly lower energy consumption and reduce ongoing operating costs. BSG Stahl Riesa representatives stress that LED lighting will not only save electricity but also enhance illumination quality for both players on the pitch and spectators in the stands. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 spectators.

The fundraising effort is being conducted through the “99 Sparks” platform operated by Sparkasse Meißen. Supporters, local residents, and businesses are being invited to contribute to what the club describes as an investment in the future of the stadium and regional sport. The funding target of BSG Stahl Riesa club is €12,000, with the goal of reaching this amount by the end of March.

Contributors can secure a place in the 2026/27 team photo, obtain an original locker from the changing rooms, or receive a signed jersey from the 2025 hejosaCup. The club emphasizes that every donation, regardless of size, helps move the project closer to completion.

In addition to financial benefits, the modernization of teh arena is framed as a sustainable and responsible step. Lower electricity usage will reduce CO2 emissions and decrease long-term maintenance costs. Board members are appealing to the solidarity of the community, underlining that the project represents a shared commitment to strengthening the local sports venue.
