Correos is in the Top 20 of the Merco 2022 ESG ranking
Correos leads the freight transport sector ranking and ranks 17th in the index of the most responsible companies in Spain, eleven positions more than in 2021. The 2022 ranking is the result of the exhaustive analysis of a total of 49,073 surveys, in which 25 sources of information and seven perspectives have been taken into account, evaluating ESG management indicators of the companies.
For the first time, Correos is among the top 20 companies in the Merco 2022 ranking of the most responsible companies in Spain according to ESG criteria. In the overall index, Correos is ranked 17th, climbing eleven positions from the 28th place achieved in 2021.
This means that, in the last three years, Correos has advanced 80 positions in this ranking, from the 97th position obtained in 2019. In addition, the company, for yet another year, occupies first place in the ranking in the freight transport sector.
The Merco Responsabilidad ESG index, which stands for Environment (E), Social (S), and Governance (G), offers a holistic measurement of corporate sustainability, as it takes into account the assessment of stakeholders, in addition to corporate performance, through the analysis of 49,073 surveys.

Correos ranks 30th in the top 100 the most responsible companies in Spain
Together with the ranking of the 100 most responsible companies in Spain in 2022, and the classification by sector, the index offers three sub-rankings with the most outstanding companies in each of the three dimensions it analyzes: environmental, social, and governance.
In these, Correos ranks 30th as the most environmentally responsible company, 24th in the social sub-ranking (employees, customers, and society), and 24th in the governance sub-ranking, having climbed positions in all of them from 41st, 33rd, and 36th last year in the respective sub-ranking.
Merco ESG Responsibility 2022
The 2022 ranking is the result of the exhaustive analysis of a total of 49,073 surveys, in which 25 sources of information and seven perspectives have been taken into account, evaluating ESG management indicators of the companies. Among them, the index analyzes factors such as transparency and good governance, responsibility towards employees, information transparency and quality, social commitment, labor quality, and respect for consumer rights. Aspects such as respect for the environment, sustainability policies, ethical behavior, and internal reputation also gain importance.
In 2022, 1,116 executives, 95 CSR experts, 100 financial analysts, 121 journalists, 56 members of government, 108 heads of NGOs, 92 heads of trade unions, 83 heads of consumer associations, 79 Social Media Managers, 611 heads of SMEs, 8,001 citizens, as well as the latest edition of Merco Talent (38,526 people in the sample) and Merco Digital (in collaboration with Nethodology), which analyzes the publications and conversation generated on social networks. Objective criteria of reputational merit have also been checked for 78 companies.
