Strong community support in Görlitz funds nine local crowdfunding projects ahead of schedule

From December 1st to 19th, nine non-profit crowdfunding projects from Görlitz and the surrounding area sought support. The projects ranged from new soccer fields for schools and jerseys for young athletes to cultural events such as the children’s winter ball and the 50th anniversary of the Görlitz vintage park railway.

Anne Lattig highlighted one particularly noteworthy crowdfunding project: “The Evangelical School Association of Görlitz achieved the highest funding rate of 147 percent for a safe, impact-absorbing surface in the schoolyard.” This project also raised the largest single sum of all the projects on teh crowdfunding platform, amounting to €5,160.

The funded projects include safe playing areas for children, sports equipment for youth teams, a bike trip to the Baltic Sea for fourth graders, basketballs for all schools in Görlitz, a proper graduation ceremony for tenth graders, and cultural highlights for the entire region.

The municipal utility company provided each project with €200 in seed funding and additionally supported it with a Christmas grant fund of €2,300. For every €10 donated by the public, an additional €20 from this fund was allocated to the respective project. Furthermore, the utility company sent out Christmas vouchers with a total value of €1,200, which could be redeemed for any of the projects.

With its Christmas campaign, the crowdfunding platform continues its success story. Since its inception, 58 projects have been made possible by more than 3,300 supporters, raising a total of over €240,000. The municipal utility company invites all clubs, organizations, and initiatives to continue using Görlitz-Crowd for their projects.
