eToro Enables Trading in Real Cryptocurrencies in Germany Again

eToro’s partnership with DLT Finance allows German customers to trade real crypto assets again, instead of only using CFDs. Users will need to verify accounts and accept new terms. Stop-loss and limit orders will no longer apply to real crypto trades, and a 1% fee will be introduced. The overall user experience remains unchanged.

Good news for eToro customers in Germany: In the coming weeks, it will again be possible to buy and sell real cryptocurrencies on the platform. This is made possible by a new partnership with DLT Finance, which will go live shortly.

Previously, German customers could only trade crypto CFDs (Contracts for Difference) since September 2023. With the new partner DLT Finance, real crypto assets can now be traded again, which represents a significant upgrade for many users.

What does this mean for eToro customers?

Thanks to the partnership with DLT Finance, a BaFin-regulated brand, German customers can once again buy and sell real crypto assets without having to rely on CFDs.

There will be no changes to eToro’s user interface or overall trading experience. Customers will retain the same functionality and familiar user experience, but will need to verify their account with DLT Finance and agree to the new Terms and Conditions (T&Cs).

Important changes to stop loss and limit orders

Some features such as stop-loss and take-profit orders, as well as limit orders, will no longer be available for real crypto positions opened through DLT Finance.

Existing stop-loss and limit orders will be cancelled, while these features will remain for crypto CFDs. For clients who prefer to trade real crypto assets instead of CFDs, this will represent a change in risk management.

eToro fees and verification

Once the partnership is live, a 1% fee will be charged for buying and selling crypto assets. These fees will be managed by DLT Finance and may change in the future. To trade, customers will need to verify their account and accept the new T&Cs, which may include a video identification process.

Conclusion

The partnership between eToro and DLT Finance represents an important development for German crypto traders. It enables the purchase and sale of real crypto assets again, but continues to offer eToro’s proven user experience.
