eWibe Opens a Seed Round with an Initial Investment of €250,000 from Bonsai Ventures
eWibe will use the money raised to further strengthen the team and the services offered. The operation is part of the growth path that will lead eWibe to finalize a seed round indicatively in the next 12 months after the €500,000 pre-seed round closed at the end of 2021, in which 40 private investors had participated, company sources report, including Flavio Cattaneo
Bonsai Ventures, the investment holding company that invests in early-stage startups, has entered the capital of eWibe, the live marketplace for fine wines. It did so through a €250,000 investment that represents the first piece of an operation that will involve several business angels investing in eWibe in the coming weeks through a Participatory Financial Instrument (PFS).

The operation is part of the growth path that will lead eWibe to finalize a seed round indicatively in the next 12 months after the €500,000 pre-seed round closed at the end of 2021, in which 40 private investors had participated, company sources report, including Flavio Cattaneo
The resources raised, thanks to the support of Bonsai Ventures, will be used to further strengthen the team and the services offered, with the aim of making a market traditionally reserved for collectors and insiders, which has steadily grown by an average of 10 percent per year over the past decade, increasingly liquid and open to all.
eWibe, a real-time trading platform for investing in fine wines accessible to everyone, from individuals to the entire supply chain, founded by Edoardo Maria Lamacchia and operational since July 2022, offers services to learn about the market through education, information on labels and wineries, and analysis of market values through a proprietary algorithm, as well as a warehouse storage service and a vault for the protection and preservation of bottles traded on the platform. In its first year of operation, it reached a potential of 5,000 users and has labels on the platform worth more than €2 million.
Edoardo Maria Lamacchia, founder, and CEO of eWibe said, “Thanks to the support of all our investors, we have reached the goals initially set in advance and now we aim to further strengthen the team and services dedicated to those who want to invest in an effervescent market such as fine wines. The positive figures for 2022, a year in which the sector grew by 10.7 percent beating the performance of traditional financial indices, once again demonstrated its potential. Strengthened also by the new partnership, we will continue to work to make this market accessible to everyone, not only through live market services but also by offering training to those who want to approach this passion asset.”
Michele Padovani, founder, and CEO of Bonsai Ventures added, “We aim to build a diversified portfolio of startups led by gritty teams with the chops to take on the challenges ahead of them and achieve their ambitious development plans. We are delighted to be able to support the further development phase of eWibe, a high-potential startup riding the current trend of democratization of illiquid asset classes, such as the fine wine sector that until recently was the preserve of a few.”
As for Bonsai Ventures, a Veneto-based holding company founded by Michele Padovani and David Erba, formed in November 2022 and capitalized by ultra-high-net-worth individuals, its mission is to support the seed-stage of high-potential startups, and eWibe is one of the first ventures it has decided to focus on. The goal is to build a deep and diversified sector agnostic portfolio and to establish itself in the coming years as the player of choice in Italy for early-stage startups.
There are currently six startups in participation for a capital of €1.5 million invested
In February, Bonsai Ventures had led a round, again disbursed in convertible participatory financial instruments (sfp), in favor of Fler, an Italian hair removal brand, innovative from a digital and marketing point of view, together with Loop and various business angels.
While in March, he participated, together with Prana Ventures, Growth Engine, and a number of business angels including Duccio Vitali, Valerio Fonseca, Marco di Pietro, Giordano Martinelli, in the investment round in Cosmico, the startup that connects talents in the digital world with the largest companies, agencies, consulting firms and international startups, coordinated by Growth Capital, which reached the amount of 1.85 million euros.
