With over 100,000 trips recorded in the first 9 months of 2024, Milan confirms its position as the leading Italian city in sustainable urban micromobility, followed by Rome (50,000) and Turin (30,000). This is what emerges from the data released by FREENOW, the taxi app for the inhabitants of Rome and Milan, during the Milan Green Week 2024.

For the occasion, the company conducted an analysis on zero-emission micromobility, comparing user preferences in the main Italian cities with the rest of Europe.

According to the analysis, in the first months of 2024, electric scooter rides (eMopeds) dominated the electric micromobility scene in Italy, with 65,000 rides recorded across the entire national territory, followed by eScooters and eBikes , with 60,000 and 42,000 trips made, respectively.

At a local level, Milan is leading the way in sustainable urban micromobility choices

Supporting this positive trend is a strong growth in the supply of electric vehicles in the city: in the last two years, in fact, the number of eBikes available on FREENOW has more than tripled, while eScooters and eMopeds have recorded a 60% growth in the last three years.

At a local level, Milan is leading the way in sustainable urban micromobility choices, with 105,000 trips made with zero-emission vehicles, of which over 41,000 with eMopeds, 33,000 with eBikes and 29,000 with eScooters. Milan is followed by Rome , which stands out with 50,000 trips and 7,500 zero-emission vehicles. Turin , for its part, ranks first for the number of electric bicycles available, with 2,000 eBikes. The Piedmont city also stands out for the number of eScooters, ranking third nationally.

Good result also at European level, with Italy positioning itself among the first countries for sustainable urban micromobility, surpassing Germany, Spain and France in the number of electric scooters available to users.

Furthermore, for the eScooters category, Italy confirms itself among the first three countries in Europe for number of vehicles and in third place for number of eBikes available. Driven by sustainable mobility, in the first nine months of 2024, the company recorded a 40% growth compared to the same period of 2023 in terms of trips made.
