Nao Expands to Austria, Offering Investment Opportunities Starting at €1,000

Austrian private investors can now access high-quality asset classes like private equity and hedge funds through the NAO app, with a minimum investment of just €1,000. This expansion democratizes investment opportunities previously reserved for the wealthy, aligning with NAO’s mission to build long-term wealth. The move taps into Austria’s growing interest in alternative investments.

Nao

The Berlin-based fintech company Nao is expanding to Austria. After launching in Germany in summer 2023, Austrian private investors will now also have access to investment opportunities in the app starting at 1,000 euros. The startup’s focus is on investments in alternative investments such as private equity, infrastructure and hedge funds.

Private investors from Austria can now register via the app and invest in a variety of asset classes that are very popular with institutional investors – including private equity, hedge funds, infrastructure investments and equity-linked bonds. Using a co-investment approach, this is possible with a minimum investment of just 1,000 euros. Nao is thus lowering the entry barriers and giving a wider public access to investment opportunities that were previously only available to wealthy and institutional investors.

With the expansion to Austria, we are officially starting our internationalization. Austrian private investors can now invest money like professional investors via the NAO app. Our mission is to democratize access to high-quality investment opportunities and to help people build long-term wealth. The Austrian market is an important step on this path for us.” Robin Binder, CEO and founder of NAO

Long-term investment and pension provision are the main motives for investment

According to the Austrian Banking Association, savings accounts and building society contracts are the preferred forms of investment for Austrians. According to the 2024 Stock Barometer, 27% of Austrians own shares, bonds or investment funds.

Another 21% are interested. The main reasons for investments are the desire to build wealth and preserve value in the long term. Binder explains that investments in alternative investments are still in their early stages in Austria, but demand is growing.

What Nao does

Nao is a co-investment platform whose self-declared goal is to liberalize investments and help people build long-term wealth. In the app, investors would find investment opportunities that were previously only accessible to a small financial elite.

For its offering, the Berlin-based WealthTech, founded in 2022, cooperates with Baader Bank as a custodian bank and banks such as UniCredit, UBS and Vontobel. In regulatory terms, Nao uses a liability umbrella for investment brokerage and works as a contractually bound agent for DonauCapital Wertpapier.
