Solana Integrated with Google BigQuery – Blockchain Data Made Easy

Dan Albert, head of the Solana Foundation, says they are proud that with the help of Google, more transparency, openness, and accessibility are achieved. The idea of Google BigQuery for blockchain data is that users can ask specific questions and get instant answers. For example, Google BiqQuery shows the top 50 wallets and their actions for Solana.

Solana (SOL) is currently holding its annual “Breakpoint” conference. One highlight is that blockchain data from Solana is now available on Google BiqQuery. This makes it easy to capture developments.

Just over five years ago, Google began systematically capturing the blockchain data of major cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum (ETH) and preparing it in a user-friendly way. Initially known as Google Blockchain ETL (“Extract, Transform, Load”), the program has produced thoroughly exciting results. Now, fittingly for the annual “Breakpoint” conference, Solana (SOL) is pleased to be integrated with Google ETL, which is now being promoted as BigQuery.

In a press release, Dan Albert, head of the Solana Foundation, says they are proud that with the help of Google, more transparency, openness, and accessibility are being achieved. The idea of Google BigQuery for blockchain data is that users can ask specific questions and get instant answers. For example, Google BiqQuery shows the top 50 wallets and their actions for Solana. Investors can thus follow what so-called whales (“big investors”) are doing and adjust their strategies if necessary.

Solana cites the NFT division and the marketplace Floor as reference example of the usefulness of Google BigQuery

There, according to the report, blockchain data on NFT sales is merged with that of bids, which are not documented on the blockchain. “There’s a lot of interesting data that’s just off-chain but connected to on-chain data,” said Floor CEO Chris Maddern, describing the interaction with Google BiqQuery. Now Solana NFT data would be easily accessible to ordinary users, something that previously was only possible for specialists with a lot of work.

By the end of September, Google had added eleven blockchains to BigQuery, including Arbitrum (ARB), Tron (TRX), and Polkadot (DOT). There is a fee for the service, but $300 in free seed money can be easily redeemed to try it out. Solana points to a Google blog post that explains how to use BiqQuery for blockchain data.

Bottom line: Google BigQuery now includes Solana

Solana sees the addition to Google BigQuery as another step in building out “institutional infrastructure” for the ecosystem. Most recently, Solana had highlighted the integration of its Pay payment service with Shopify in that effort, as well as a joint project with credit card giant Visa. Meanwhile, Solana has also made significant gains in the wake of the recent Bitcoin rally, with SOL currently marking an annual high of just over $38.
