In its third edition, the SwissHacks 2026 hackathon gains additional importance as a cornerstone of the Swiss FinTech Week.

The first two SwissHacks events in 2024 and 2025 were very well attended and successfully held. The 2026 edition takes on additional significance as the opening event of Swiss FinTech Week in Zurich.

The Swiss FinTech Week will premiere in 2026 and aims to make Switzerland the epicenter of financial innovation. This innovative week will bring together a whole range of events. These include, in addition to SwissHacks, the FuW FinTech Forum, the Swiss FinTech Awards, the Point Zero Forum, the FinTech Makers Night, and other events.

SwissHacks 2026

The now well-established Swiss hackathon for FinTech companies, supported by the Swiss government, is a flagship event and a key component of the first Swiss Fintech Week. SwissHacks will take place from June 19 to 21, 2026, initiated by the State Secretariat for International Finance (SIF), supported and organized by Tenity.

SwissHacks has already established an international reputation as the leading hackathon of the Swiss government. The global talent pool of developers, problem solvers, and creatives was represented at the second event last year by 220 hackers from 70 countries.

Teams from all over the world come together at the 48-hour hackathon to solve pressing problems. The winning teams present their innovations during Swiss FinTech Week at the Zurich Congress Center.

What makes the SwissHacks 2026 hackathon special

SwissHacks 2026 aims to strengthen Switzerland’s position as a global hub for financial innovation, at a time when financial institutions are undergoing profound, AI-driven transformation and must manage the transition to on-chain finance and tokenized infrastructure.

The 48-hour intensive program provides a framework for experts and talents who, together with industry-leading organizations, tackle the most pressing challenges facing the financial sector. The focus is increasingly on future technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital assets, programmable money, and scalable on-chain architectures.

This year’s edition places an even stronger emphasis on the development of innovative and scalable solutions, offering participants a unique opportunity to test future technologies in real-world applications in the financial sector, develop prototypes and validate them.

SwissHacks marks the official launch of the first Swiss FinTech Week, a week-long celebration of financial innovation across Zurich. The week brings together the global FinTech community for conferences, networking events, workshops, and joint sessions, aiming to establish Switzerland as an epicenter for financial technology innovation.

“Financial institutions today face two simultaneous structural changes: Artificial intelligence is fundamentally changing how banks operate, their decision-making, and customer service, while on-chain finance is reshaping the underlying infrastructure of value exchange. SwissHacks 2026 provides a platform to test these cutting-edge technologies in a practical setting ,” says Brigitta Gyoerfi, Hub Director at Tenity. “It’s about moving from strategy to practical application – and from practical application to scalable solutions for the financial sector.”

What participants and winning teams gain from it

The journey of the SwissHacks 2026 winners will extend far beyond the hackathon. As a unique opportunity highlighting the close connection between SwissHacks and Swiss Fintech Week, the winning teams will present their solutions at the Zurich Congress House during the FinTech Makers Night (powered by Tenity).

The teams will meet an audience of interested industry leaders, potential investors and innovation promoters who gather in Zurich to discuss and advance the most pressing technological developments in finance: from next-generation banking and the impact of artificial intelligence to tokenization and digital assets, and the integration of financial services into everyday digital life.

This platform offers winners access to the Swiss FinTech ecosystem with startups, established FinTechs, leading financial institutions, investors and academia.
