The Portuguese cannabis market

Arno Hazekamp, founder of LCC in the Netherlands and one of the main organizers of the event explained to Cannareporter that the Legal Cannabis Coalition is a collaboration between experienced service providers in the areas of plant cultivation, quality control, and product development. “Portugal is an important hub for professional cannabis cultivation in the European market, with a large number of licensed producers. LCC looks forward to meeting them in Lisbon to share knowledge and experience and to bring together the best of Portugal and the Netherlands,” he added.

Portugal has become an important gateway to the rapidly growing European market for medical cannabis products. “Dozens of highly specialized cannabis cultivators are already active in Portugal and local extraction companies, scientists, and medical experts are increasingly involved in this exciting new market. Having access to the best knowledge and services will help Portugal stay on top of this highly competitive industry. WISE Healthcare Solutions helps Portuguese cannabis professionals find what they need,” the statement said.

The cannabis sector in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a world leader in the cultivation of fruit, vegetables, and ornamental plants in greenhouses and indoors. In 2003, it also became one of the first countries to have a national medicinal program for standardized, quality-controlled cannabis.

As a result, Dutch companies have become world leaders in the areas of cannabis greenhouse construction, optimizing growing conditions, and laboratory analysis of cannabis-derived products. “Sharing this knowledge with cannabis professionals around the world is the main focus of the Legal Cannabis Coalition,” says Arno.

How to participate in the symposium

According to Alessandro Radici, CEO of Key Leaves and speaker at the event, “all companies interested in entering the Portuguese market, as producers, extractors or service providers of medical cannabis should join this event. Nowadays, especially in a newly developed business sector like cannabis, it is extremely important to be in partnership with consultants and receive the right knowledge to raise the company’s know-how. LCC is giving the opportunity to share the knowledge of its cannabis professionals with the experience coming from an advanced country like Holland, while WISE has the local knowledge and offers the necessary support services to enter the Portuguese market. Knowledge is everything,” he said.

About LCC and Wise HS

The Legal Cannabis Coalition (LCC) began in 2018 as a unique collaboration between Dutch companies in the fields of plant cultivation, laboratory research, and regulatory affairs. Each LCC member is an expert in their own market, from greenhouse construction and installation of LED lights, to laboratory testing and registration of a new drug. Members have gained their expertise in the general markets of plant breeding and medicine, but in recent years have become increasingly involved with the world of legal cannabis. By combining products and knowledge, LCC can offer a reliable and experienced one-stop-shop for all medical cannabis issues.

WISE Healthcare Solutions was founded in Portugal in 2016 to respond to identified needs in the healthcare consulting market. It directs its sphere of action along three axes: clinical consulting, business consulting (for healthcare providers and stakeholders in the different stages of the life cycle of healthcare products), and event organization and training. In the field of medical cannabis, WISE can assist Portuguese clients with a wide range of consulting services, including legal advice, license applications, market research, and regulatory compliance.
