The Verde e Blu Festival is back for its sixth edition, an event on topics related to sustainability and digital innovation promoted by the multinational consultancy company BIP.

From green finance to the circular economy, through a new concept of smart city that puts the citizen at the center, between regulation and sustainable transition of productivity: these are some of the topics that will be discussed during the Verde e Blu Festival scheduled for June 18th and 19th in Rome, at the Acquario Romano.

Two days full of meetings, round tables, interviews and inspirational speeches, to discuss and explore the challenges and opportunities of energy transition, urban sustainability and digital transformation. Many guests are expected, including the President of Lazio Francesco Rocca and Elena Grech, Deputy Director of the Representation of the EU Commission.

Verde e Blu Festival explores smart cities, green finance, and digital transformation to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future

The first day of work at the Verde e Blu Festival will focus on green finance and its strategic role in global sustainability policies, the responsible use of natural resources, innovative consumption models and the bioeconomy. The second day will delve into issues related to sustainable regulation, smart urban planning, sustainable mobility and the digitalisation of society. It will be an opportunity to explore the most advanced technologies and adaptation strategies for a sustainable industrial ecosystem, with round tables dedicated to artificial intelligence, industrial robotics and optimal supply chain management.

The Verde e Blu event will also be an opportunity to illustrate the results of some studies carried out by BIP on smart solutions for mobility, citizens and public administration.

How will people move in the cities of the future? The Smart Mobility Report produced by BIP paints a clear picture of what mobility will be like , highlighting the growing importance of integrated, flexible and sustainable solutions. Among the most interesting elements, it emerges that 69% of Italian citizens declare themselves available to use public transport for urban commuting and 45% of those interviewed in Italy are in favor of using bicycles for urban travel.

Verde e Blu Festival spotlights sustainability, smart mobility, and digital innovation for future-ready cities

Self-driving cars, expected to be one of the major technological innovations, promise to improve safety and traffic flow: according to the BIP survey, about 30% of Italian respondents expressed interest, but many reported concerns about the safety and reliability of these technologies.

The Smart People & Smart Government Report by BIP is the result of an international survey that photographs an Italy that is stuck halfway in terms of urban development. The research shows a portrait characterized by incomplete digitalization, still difficult access to services, and city models that are far from people’s daily needs. The goal is the “15-minute city” : 92.5% of Italians would like to live in a city where all essential services can be reached in 15 minutes on foot or by bike, but 54.9% of users still use their cars to access services, and only 22.4% travel on foot.

Another key aspect at the Verde e Blu Festival concerns the digitalization of public administration, to make services more accessible to citizens. The future of cities and PA will depend on the ability to build more inclusive, accessible and sustainable urban and digital ecosystems. Suffice it to say that 50% of Italians report an excessive bureaucratic burden in interacting with the Public Administration and, despite the growing use of digital (41.5%), the physical modality remains prevalent (52.83%) and hybrid access is residual (5.7%).

“With Il Verde e Blu Festival, we are renewing an event that is central to us, designed to foster constructive dialogue between institutions, businesses and civil society, and generate ideas capable of concretely accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable future,” explained Alberto Idone, CEO of BIP, “Sustainability and innovation are no longer just objectives to be achieved, but become fundamental principles on which to build responsible growth, capable of guaranteeing a better future for future generations.”
