The Viennese Fintech company Vipaso (Vienna Payment Solutions), announced the launch of a new app called “ViennaPay”. This application is to be available at the Donauinselfest in collaboration with Visa.

Vipaso wants to simplify payments at Donauinselfest

“The motivation for developing an app for the festival, which has more than 2.5 million visitors, was to be able to offer a new dimension in fast, secure, and convenient mobile payments. We want visitors to be able to enjoy the festival to the fullest without worrying about carrying their wallets or enough cash. With the app, all they have to do is add their preferred means of payment and with one click on the screen, the payment is made,” says Matthias Horvath, CEO of Vipaso.

ViennaPay consists of two apps, one for consumers and one for merchants. Two smartphones – or any other smart device – that are Bluetooth-enabled are required. The use of the latest Bluetooth technology should make it possible to establish a spatially separated and non-invasive connection.

ViennaPay offers encrypted payments

All catering stands at Wien Energie/radio fm4/Radio Wien/HITRADIO Ö3 Festbühne and Bank Austria/radio 88.6 Rock Bühne are to be compatible with the app. That means they can accept payments from all visitors who have downloaded the ViennaPay app. According to the startup, the app is user-friendly, easy to use, fast, and offers more security for everyone.

All communication between the ViennaPay backend and participating devices takes place on an encrypted basis. No transaction data is stored on the devices or exchanged directly by the smartphones involved. ViennaPay is available free of charge in the Apple AppStore and Google PlayStore as of 12.6. The Bluetooth-based technology in combination with a white-label approach is intended to enable a fast and secure payment process for merchants and guests alike.
