CBD oil and its main active ingredient cannabidiol come from the hemp plant, but are not intoxicating and are completely legal. The oil is used to treat anxiety, pain, and inflammation.

CBD oil (cannabidiol oil) is currently one of the most frequently mentioned products. The substance CBD is extracted from the hemp plant. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) contained in cannabis, it is not intoxicating and has no psychoactive effect.

CBD is currently one of the fastest-growing sub-sectors of the cannabis market and is predicted to be worth a staggering 220 billion by 2026. Investors are all searching for the next big thing and it’s possible that one of Winn-Dixie’s newest suppliers might be just what they are looking for.

What is cannabidiol?

Many people first associate the hemp plant with the cannabis plant grown as an intoxicant. However, hemp, which contains hardly any psychoactive substances (e.g. THC), has been cultivated as a fiber plant for thousands of years. It is one of the oldest and most useful plants in the world. Textiles, yarns, and paper, among other things, can be obtained from the fibers.

Fiber hemp also contains CBD (cannabidiol), which chemically belongs to the so-called cannabinoids. The oil obtained from it is not intoxicating and is therefore completely legal. CBD oil has become increasingly well known in recent years due to its many positive effects.

Not only in humans, but also in pets such as dogs and cats, the oil is successfully used for numerous complaints. Mainly responsible for the effect of hemp oil is the ingredient CBD. The quality and effectiveness of an oil can therefore be seen from the CBD content.

Full spectrum hemp extracts produced by Veritas Farms Inc. (OTC: VFRM) represent another popular hemp derived product. Full Spectrum hemp extract products are available in over nine categories, with more than 60 SKUs, include lotions, tinctures, vape oils, and vegan capsules, with many new products being announced regularly.

Painkillers and anti-inflammatories

Hemp-derived CBD oil is said to be pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic. It can be used to relieve headaches and migraines, for example. Although the causes of migraines are still largely unexplained, they appear to be related to nerve inflammation. Research suggests that an existing migraine disposition could result from a lack of CB1 receptors in the brain. CBD can help to counteract this.

Since conventional drugs often have severe side effects in the treatment of pain, CBD products can be a good alternative or supplement to stop the drugs or reduce the dose. It should be noted, however, that while CBD is able to improve pain, it does not eliminate the cause from which it results.

It is said that CBD enhances the signaling effect of adenosine. The body’s own substance inhibits the release of the invigorating and activating messengers in the nervous system. Some of the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD products are believed to be based on this mechanism.

Winn-Dixie is stepping up to meet a rising demand

CBD products have become increasingly popular over the last year, with overall sales increasing by 133% in the US alone over the course of 2019. Other high-profile companies have already begun to stock CBD and Winn-Dixie is clearly looking to step in to meet rising demand. The key problem for the retailer is the difficulty in finding distribution partners. There is a long due diligence process and it is challenging to become accepted, particularly for human consumption.

This is probably one of the reasons that Veritas Farms Inc (OTC: VFRM), was selected. The company has complete control over its supply line and prides itself on ensuring complete transparency throughout the production process. It is even possible for consumers to use a QR code to verify the authenticity of their product.

Veritas Farms a unique CBD prospect

The North American cannabis market and CBD products market is growing at an impressive rate. Cannabis companies such as Veritas Farms Inc (OTC: VFRM), a successful producer and distributor of CBD products, demonstrate the potential of the cannabis sector. The company owns a 140-acre industrial hemp farm and manufacturing facility, based in Pueblo, Colorado, where the company’s eight product categories with over 60 SKUs come from.

Since 2015, the company experienced impressive growth. In Q2 2019 Veritas generated more than $2.9 million in total revenue. That is actually a 500% increase since Q2 2018. The company’s gross profits reached $1,523,413 and thanks to great results managed to reduce the liabilities by over $1.3 million.

While Veritas Farms has already secured more than 4,000 distribution partners the Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo supermarkets deal represents a big milestone for the company. The company will now sell its high-quality full-spectrum hemp products, at the 152 Winn-Dixie and Bi-Lo supermarkets in Florida and South Carolina.

It is notoriously difficult to pass Winn-Dixie due diligence and the fact that the company has done so, along with a handful of other high-profile CBD companies, demonstrates that the commitment to quality practiced by Veritas Farms has paid off.
