Enfinity Launches First Solar Plant in Italy with Microsoft
Enfinity Global has launched a 33.8 MW solar plant in Italy under a long-term agreement with Microsoft, marking the first operational project in a plan totaling up to 366 MW. The facility will supply renewable energy for Microsoft’s needs, support its zero-carbon goals, and contribute to local job creation in several Italian regions.
The 33.8 MW solar project represents the first operational facility under an agreement that includes up to 366 MW of solar capacity in Italy. Enfinity Global has launched its first solar plant in Italy as part of a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Microsoft.
The facility, with a capacity of 33.8 MW, has entered commercial operation and forms part of a wider agreement covering the development of up to 366 MW of new solar capacity across the country.
The electricity generated by the plant will support Microsoft’s energy needs and aligns with the company’s renewable energy procurement objectives.
Initial project marks start of broader renewable energy agreement between Microsoft and Enfinity
This installation is the first operational project within Enfinity Global’s Italian portfolio developed under its agreement with the technology company. The project reflects the company’s efforts to expand renewable energy deployment in Italy and contributes to Microsoft’s ongoing transition toward using zero-carbon energy for its operations.
According to Enfinity Global, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to increase the role of renewable sources in the national energy mix while supporting the energy requirements of large corporate partners. The project also has a local dimension, with anticipated job creation in the communities where the company’s power plants are located. These areas include Lazio, Emilia-Romagna, and Basilicata, where development and operation activities are expected to generate employment opportunities.
The solar plant underscores the collaboration between Enfinity Global and Microsoft in advancing clean energy solutions and strengthening renewable capacity in Italy. By bringing the facility into commercial operation, the partners take a first step in implementing the larger agreement that will see additional solar projects developed in the coming years.
Carlos Domenech, CEO of Enfinity Global, highlighted the significance of the partnership and the project’s role in delivering renewable energy solutions. He stated that the company is pleased to supply solar power to a global technology leader such as Microsoft and emphasized its mission to provide reliable, value-added renewable energy to both global and local customers. He also noted the importance of operating responsibly in the communities where the company develops and manages its facilities.
