The cultivation of cannabis in Colombia plays an important role
According to the Secretary of Economic Development of Valle del Cauca, Pedro Andrés Bravo, in this industry “it is projected that by 2024 we will have generated 24 thousand jobs and by 2030 more than 44 thousand direct and formal jobs. Valle del Cauca is one of the leaders, it is the first department in the medicinal industry known as CBD (Cannabidiol) and also with the agro-industrial issue,” detailed the official and specified that the main export destinations are the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom.
In this sense, Governor Clara Luz Roldán stated that the department will continue “betting on strengthening this sector, that is why we will develop the I National Summit of Cannabis and Hemp that will have Valle del Cauca as its epicenter, and it is precisely because of the impacts that are achieved not only economically, employment generation but also for the benefits that are achieved in environmental matters.”
The cultivation of cannabis plays an important role in the issue of climate change, said the Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development, Nasly Fernanda Vidales, who said that “this crop can capture carbon dioxide and reduce greenhouse gases that today afflict us globally. With the cultivation of cannabis and with the process of commercialization, transformation, and with all that this crop implies, where we are working with different population sectors, we will ensure that the department is not only a power in this sector, but we will guarantee that with this process we are betting on a green and sustainable Valle”.
