There were a total of 103 candidates at the beginning. In the end, three women entrepreneurs were crowned winners of this edition 2022

Three women were among the six finalists whose projects caught the attention of the jury. They are Lydwine Zongo, Marie L. Sanou and Farida Sakandé. They presented projects for the valorization of mango kernels in cosmetics, the revalorization of plastic waste, especially tires, and the revisitation of Faso Danfani through a nod to youth.

Hearing their names at the announcement of the results, the emotion was strong. They each won a million CFA francs and a follow-up of their projects in the field.

The FEE program was initiated by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as part of the implementation of its project “Collaborate and innovate for business resilience and inclusive solution (COLIBRIS).

Speaking at the announcement of the results, the president of the organizing committee, Issiaka Boro, recalled that under this program, 1,028 applications (Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, and other cities of Burkina) were recorded. And in line with the objectives of the program, 103 beneficiaries were selected, including 53 for Ouagadougou, 25 for Bobo-Dioulasso, and 25 in other cities. “It is therefore out of these 103 applications that 40 were selected, among which six finalists were chosen, including three winners,” he said.

Continuing his speech, he also recalled that, for the record, it is a work that lasted six months (July 5th to November 19th, 2022). According to him, the other candidates have not deserved it because all projects have gone through a very long process and will contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

As for the vice president in charge of professionalization and university-business relations of the Joseph-Ki-Zerbo University, Dr. Emilie Sanon, she also expressed her satisfaction. “You have shown tonight what you are capable of and that Burkina Faso can count on you, and that is why you are all winners,” she said to the candidates

Also addressing the candidates, the UNDP representative in Burkina, Isabelle Tchang, expressed her pride in these enterprising girls. “You have shown your dynamism and your will during these six months, and our support will continue towards you. Remain worthy and proud of yourselves and do not back down in the face of difficulties. You are such a determined youth and you are doing a great job; and I believe that at this price, you will contribute to the development of Burkina”, she told the candidates.

As a reminder, the FEE program aims to develop the entrepreneurial potential of young women students, by pre-incubating their high-potential project ideas, over a period of six months.
