Konopex

Konopex is once again opening the door to the world of cannabis. The 8th edition of the cannabis festival and fair will take place in the Czech Republic on April 25th–27th, 2025, in the Trojhalí Karolina complex in the center of Ostrava, and will present cannabis in many aspects of its versatile use.

Lectures, consultations, workshops, concerts, a cannabis cup and the popular chili eating contest at the Konopex

In addition to concerts and entertainment, there will also be a three-day lecture program , during which around 40 leading experts will present 30 lectures on the topics of self-medication, medicine, cultivation, breeding, legislation, decriminalization, legalization and regulation, technology, processing, extraction, food and technical applications and current trends from the world of hemp. In terms of scope, this is the most comprehensive hemp conference in the Czech Republic. Once again, we can expect world-class experts.

Speakers include: Prof. Nirit Bernstein (Israel, Volcani Center) – a leading expert in plant nutrition and physiology; Dr. Ilya Reznik (Israel) – neuropsychopharmacologist and president of the International Association of Cannabinoid Medicine (IACM); David Sandelman (USA) – expert from Cannatrol, specializing in drying, curing and post-harvest processes; and Marcus “Bubbleman” Richardson (Canada) – a legend and pioneer of solventless extraction, founder of Fresh Headies and a key figure in the revolution of hashish production techniques.

Near the lecture hall there will be a comfortable Vapo&Medical zone, where you will be able to try out different types of vaporizers and discuss your questions with experts about vaporization and medical treatment with cannabis.

Cannabis seeds and seedlings, equipment, processing, extraction and functional products

Three days of intense interest in the most versatile and one of the most talked about plants in the world. Hemp is rightly called the plant of the future, offering numerous benefits and stimulating research. It is known for its significant potential in medicine and can be used to produce dietary supplements and superfoods, functional cosmetics and dermatological products suitable for both humans and animals.

Hemp has been demonstrating proven properties for centuries and is used not only in the textile and paper industry, but also in construction (e.g. concrete, insulation, sealants, ropes, paints/varnishes), the automotive industry and many other areas. It arouses curiosity and interest of all generations. More and more seniors and patients are taking advantage of its health benefits, which is why people over 65 and disabled people (card holders) have free admission to Konopex.

There will also be an accompanying programme: music, entertainment, workshops, lotteries, themed competitions , a relaxation zone, a hemp cup, a chili eating competition and a canna afterparty in the evening. The workshops are particularly interesting due to their practical aspect; visitors can see up close how hemp salve is made, how plants are propagated or how hemp concrete is mixed. Workshops focusing on different extraction methods and material preparation are also popular topics at the Konopex.

Larger spaces and more foreign and Czech exhibitors at the Konopex

The move of the Konopex to larger premises has proven successful, thanks to which we can once again offer more luxurious exhibitions and an increased number of Czech and foreign exhibitors. Of course, there will be no shortage of hemp seeds and seedlings, growshop assortment and equipment for growing and processing hemp at teh Konopex. There will also be growers, processors and producers of hemp ointments, cosmetics, food and other products related to this plant.

Fans of the 420&710 community will be delighted with all kinds of gadgets and accessories for smoking, artistic, hand-blown glassware, and complementary and essential accessories for solvent or solventless extraction. Water analysis and the content of substances in cannabis or hemp products will also be a popular option at the Konopex.

Hundreds of thousands of people grow or use cannabis in the Czech Republic, millions in Europe

The European cannabis sector is undergoing significant changes, and the Czech Republic is one of the most progressive countries in the EU. Legislation and conditions for the technical, medical, and soon, hopefully, recreational use of cannabis are improving.

Legalization in the Czech Republic: There is significant political consensus on allowing home cultivation. The bill passed the Chamber of Deputies for a second reading, where possible amendments and limits for growers will likely be discussed. Cannabis clubs and the regulated market remain in play. The Czech Republic is heading to the top of the European cannabis industry.

There has been a very positive and significant change in the cannabis regulations. Starting from April 1st, 2025, general practitioners will also be able to prescribe cannabis, which will significantly increase the availability of this safe and effective medicine. Until now, in the Czech Republic, only specialists in fields such as neurology, oncology and gastroenterology could prescribe cannabis. In addition, the new regulations will allow cannabis to be prescribed to children, including those suffering from severe, drug-resistant forms of epilepsy , where cannabis is often the last effective treatment option.
