Eagle-360 tire one of Time magazine’s “Best inventions of 2016″

The Goodyear Eagle-360 Tire has a unique spherical shaped concept which brings maneuverability, safety and connectivity. Time magazine each year issues the list of the year’s “best inventions that are making the world better, smarter and—in some cases—a little more fun.” This year’s list includes 25 inventions, which in addition to Goodyear’s Eagle-360 concept, includes a virtual reality headset, shoes that lace themselves, a solar roof collaboration between Tesla and SolarCity, and the Chevy Bolt electric vehicle. Goodyear Eagle-360’s unique spherical shape could self-driving cars safety and maneuverability. The multi-orientation tires move in all directions. Active technology allows the tire to move as needed to reduce sliding from potential hazards, such as black ice or sudden obstacles, helping the drive stay on a safe path. This tire enables 360-degree turns, which in the future may solve the possible parking obstacles. Assuming public parking areas play the same role, this could significantly increase the capacity of public parking areas without increasing their size. Although the Eagle-360 is a future concept, it represents an essential aspect of Goodyear’s innovation strategy and their vision for smart and safe mobility.
