Einride Will Supply Pepsi with Electric Trucks

Einride’s electric trucks in the UK will be used to transport a specific category of goods, Walkers chips, a brand acquired by Pepsi more than 30 years ago. As TechCrunch reports, the Swedish startup already has a plan for the UK network. Unlike Tesla, Einride is not involved in the overall production of electric trucks, but relies on experienced manufacturing companies, focusing only on the more technical part.

It is called Einride and was founded in 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden. Like so many other innovative companies launched in recent years to revolutionize the transportation sector, the ability of these entities to form partnerships with giants and Big Tech can make all the difference.

In the case at hand, Einride managed to snag a deal with Pepsi, among the global leaders in the food and beverage industry, to supply electric trucks to be included in its fleet in Britain

The interesting aspect of the affair is that Pepsi itself already has agreements with Tesla in the United States with the first Semi models-the Elon Musk company’s electric trucks-ready to lend a hand in logistics. Market logic obviously dictates differentiation, and relying on various suppliers-the same is done by Amazon for its trucks-is a wise solution to not depend on a single source.

Einride’s electric trucks in the UK will be used to transport a specific category of goods, Walkers chips, a brand acquired by Pepsi more than 30 years ago. As TechCrunch reports, the Swedish startup already has a plan for the UK network: its vehicles will touch several cities such as London, Bristol, Cardiff, Liverpool, Leicester, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds. Unlike Tesla, Einride is not involved in the overall production of electric trucks, but relies on experienced manufacturing companies, focusing only on the more technical part.

CNBC made the comparison with Apple: the Cupertino company, in fact, outsources the production of its devices to companies such as Foxconn, which is also involved in the transportation sector, among others. As a result of this collaboration between Einride and Pepsi, it is estimated that once the Einride fleet for Pepsi is fully operational (no firm dates are available), the distances traveled by endothermic-powered trucks will be reduced by more than 400 thousand kilometers per year, thus helping the UK reduce emissions.
