The Brussel-based automobile safety organization Euro NCAP recently performed a crash test performance and published its last round of safety ratings for 2016. The Audi Q2, Hyundai Ioniq, Ford Edge, Suzuki Ignis and the SsangYong Tivoli all underwent Euro NCAP’s rigorous safety testing and, of the five cars, two were tested under the dual rating system. The dual rating also applies to the Tivoli’s partner model, the SsangYong XLV.
Crash test performance report:
“Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated good protection against whiplash injuries in the event of a rear-end collision and a geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated good whiplash protection there, too. The Q2 has an autonomous emergency braking system that operates at the low speeds, typical of city of driving, at which many whiplash injuries are caused. The system performed well in Euro NCAP’s tests, with a collision against a stationary car being avoided at all test speeds”, is stated in the official report for the test results after the performed crash tests.
