Generation Green: New Agricultural Projects Launched in Taza
The achievements relating to the first foundation of the Generation Green strategy “human element” mainly concerned social coverage for the benefit of 48,000 farmers, i.e. 165% of the objective, the mobilization of 4,500 ha of collective land (87% of the objective), the planting of 16,000 ha of fruit species, the distribution of 6,000 hives for beekeepers and the creation and support of 100 rural entrepreneurs.
With a useful agricultural area of 1.2 million hectares, the Fez-Meknes region in is one of the most important in Morocco for the agricultural sector.
As part of the national Generation Green (GG) strategy, the supervisory ministry has launched several integrated, targeted and territorialized projects, focused on socio-economic development. Among them, the Integrated rural development project in mountain areas of the Taza perif (PRODER) and the project to intensify beekeeping production in the province of Taza.
Visiting this locality at the start of the week, Mohamed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, was accompanied in particular by Said Zniber, wali of the Fez-Meknes region, and governor of the Fez prefecture. He inquired about the progress of the Provincial Agricultural Plan (PAP).

As for the achievements under the second foundation “sustainability of agricultural development”, the ministry cites the development of 52 km of rural roads and 72 km of seguias, the conservation of 33,000 ha of agricultural land, the construction and development of 9 valorization units and 3 marketing platforms and souk, the adoption of direct sowing at the level of 1,200 ha and 4,000 ha of olive trees carried out in organic mode.
Concerning the program for the construction of rural roads for the period of 2023-2024, it consists of the development and double-layer coating of 1978 km of track as part of the integrated rural development project in mountain areas of the pre- rif of Taza (PRODER).
The main objectives of the Generation Green program are to open up agricultural production areas and facilitate access to souks and valorization units, encourage rural girls to drop out of school and reduce school dropouts, and facilitate access to public and socio-economic services and improvement of living conditions for 6,970 beneficiaries (1,394 households).
At the level of the Beni Ftah territorial commune, in the circle of Tainaste, the minister launched the development and double-layer coating work on the section of track connecting the regional road (RR) 508 to the Draissa, Tehha, Oued douars Boukkaoua and Tioujfal with a length of 7.72 km, which will require 27.35 million dirhams.
The planting program for the period 2023-2024 concerns 2,754 ha, including 1,924 ha of almond trees and 830 ha of fig trees, with a total investment amount of 42 million dirhams. At the level of the Had Msila territorial commune, Tainaste circle, the visit focused on the launch of fig tree plantation work in the Lamrabtine perimeter over an area of 236 ha for the benefit of 96 beneficiaries. The project is led by the “Oued Lahdar” cooperative. The investment amount for the 830 ha fig tree plantation project amounts to 9.35 million dirhams.
As part of the project to intensify beekeeping production in the province of Taza, the minister inaugurated the Union “Al Amal” beekeeping complex, located in the El Gouzate territorial commune of the Tainaste circle. The overall investment amount is around MAD 9.7 million for the benefit of 19 beekeeping cooperatives with a potential of 1,549 hives.
The complex will allow the organization of 277 beneficiaries, the improvement of productivity, the conditions for the valorization and marketing of beekeeping production, the strengthening of local capacities, the improvement of the income of beekeepers and the creation of 160 days of employment and 18 work opportunities.
