Insight Foto Festival Launches €4,500 Crowdfunding Campaign to Support 2026 Edition
Insight Foto Festival in Varese has launched a €4,500 crowdfunding campaign to sustain its free 2026 edition. Organized by Gattabuia APS, the contemporary photography festival will feature 40 exhibitions across 15 venues. Funds will support exhibitions, workshops, artist residencies, and cultural projects, helping secure long-term continuity and accessibility for the community.
Insight Foto Festival, the contemporary photography festival in Varese, is calling on the community to join in. The organizers have launched a crowdfunding campaign on Ideaginger with the goal of supporting the festival, which is completely free, and raising €4,500.
This is a crucial figure because it would allow the €25,000 contribution made by the Fondazione Comunitaria del Varesotto to be confirmed. Without reaching the target, the Inisght Foto Festival would still take place in 2026, but the financial loss would make it very difficult to continue in subsequent years.
“Insight is free, but not free,” explained the organizers of the Inisght Foto Festival, emphasizing that behind each edition lies professional work, planning, installations, communication, relationships with artists and institutions, and a great deal of shared energy. The decision to not charge admission or participation fees stems from the desire to make culture accessible even to those who cannot afford to pay.
Insight Foto Festival returns in 2026 with 40 exhibitions across 15 Varese venues, offering a free program of cultural events
Launched in 2021 and organized by Gattabuia Aps in partnership with the Municipality of Varese, the Insight Foto Festival is a widespread contemporary photography festival spanning institutional spaces, theaters, squares, and outdoor venues. The sixth edition, of the Inisght Foto Festival, scheduled for 2026, features approximately 40 exhibitions spread across 15 city venues, accompanied by a free program of events and activities.
Donations will further enrich the Inisght Foto Festival project. Among the planned initiatives are a photography workshop open to those without specific skills, an international artist residency, the production of the festival’s first catalog, and an inaugural event with a DJ set.
The residency involved in the Inisght Foto Festival Yirong Wu, a young Chinese artist who graduated from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and was selected through an open call for students and alumni of the Milanese institution. During a week of work in Varese, the artist will develop research on the city’s monumental trees and their relationship with the urban fabric. The program will conclude with a site-specific installation in the Estensi Gardens.
Crowdfunding offers various support options, starting with a minimum donation of €5. For larger donations, rewards include festival kits, postcards from previous editions, posters, admission to film screenings, cyanotype and anthotype workshops, guided tours, aperitifs with the organizing team, and team-building activities for companies and professional studios.
The Inisght Foto Festival campaign aims to directly involve citizens, businesses, and associations in the festival’s development. ” Supporting Insight means not just being a spectator, but helping to maintain shared spaces for culture, encounters, and participation,” explained Gattabuia Aps.
Donations also offer tax benefits: individuals can deduct 30% of the amount donated, while businesses and non-profit organizations can deduct the donation from their taxable income within the established limits.
