The St. Engelbertus Shooting Club of Medelon raised €10,260 through crowdfunding. Only during the work did the full extent of the dry rot become apparent. One detail made the renovation particularly urgent.
Great joy at the St. Engelbertus Shooting Club in Medelon
The club in Medelon has announced that its crowdfunding campaign, conducted in partnership with Volksbank Sauerland, was a resounding success. Thanks to numerous supporters, a total of €10,260 was raised for the renovation of the dance floor and the exterior facade of the shooting hall’s dome. The fundraising campaign thus exceeded its target of €10,000. Volksbank Sauerland contributed €3,775 to the crowdfunding project.
During the course of the work, it became apparent that the dance floor, part of a pillar of the dome structure, the electrical distribution system, and parts of the outer facade of the dome were significantly damaged by an infestation of dry rot.
To ensure the safety and preservation of Medelon’s traditional building in the long term, a comprehensive renovation of the dance floor and the outer facade of the dome was considered, according to the rifle club.
Since the remediation work in the case of dry rot was not covered by insurance, the urgently needed measures could be implemented thanks to the successful crowdfunding campaign. The shooting club thanks all donors and Volksbank Sauerland for their support and successful collaboration. The result underscores once again the importance of preserving club life and cultural heritage, according to the board of the St. Engelbertus Shooting Club of Medelon.
The timely completion of the renovations made it possible to ceremonially reopen the shooting hall on May 1st as part of the “Mushrooms out, beer in” event. Numerous guests took the opportunity to view the newly renovated dance floor and the new exterior facade of the dome and to celebrate the reopening together.
And just a few weeks later, the traditional Whitsun shooting festival was able to take place as planned in the renovated premises. This means the shooting hall in Medelon is once again ideally equipped for future events.
Furthermore, special thanks are due to all the companies, tradespeople, and the many volunteers who supported the renovation project with their expertise, active assistance, and advice. Without their dedicated commitment and excellent cooperation, the successful completion of this project in such a short time would not have been possible, the statement continues.
Thanks to the successful crowdfunding campaign, the St. Engelbertus Shooting Brotherhood of Medelon looks to the future with great confidence and looks forward to continuing to welcome many guests to its shooting hall for celebrations.
